Somebody Bring Me Some Pasta

The Good News:

* Person at work says my skin looks “beautiful”
* Husband notices I look slimmer
* Eating more vegetables than humanly possible, am slowly becoming green pepper
* When not gnawing on my knuckle, I have more energy

The Bad News:

* Have another 6 days on Phase I of South Beach
* I see pasta everywhere.
* I see carbs everywhere
* Salads are highly overrated
* Being healthy and slender is also overrated

    You say nothing of the farting…

    Not enough money or motivation to put myself through that torture.

    I like my veggies. But only as a precursor to actual FOOD.

    Plus, I think my ass is sexy when it looks like a big, puffy, cloud-like pillow.

    I embrace it.

    I’m so proud of you. I still need to lose about fifteen pounds but I’m scared of doing it in case I lose my tits in the process. In any case, eating salad isn’t so hard in the spring, or is it not hot in seattle yet?

    correct me if i’m wrong, but i’m pretty sure knuckle-gnawing is actually a very serious calorie burner. the diet is just so damn helpful!

    good job on sticking to it. and you’re not crazy or merely deprived, dude…carbs ARE everywhere. it’s a bad bad world.

    Good for you! I am trying the Weight Watchers thing and I am ravneous at the end of the day and B I T C H Y! My poor hubby…oh, and if I loose MY tits in the process, that would make me a very happy woman! Would not make hubby happy, but if I can wear a tank top with perky tits again…oh the joy!!!

    Mrs. Joe read “French Women Dont Get Fat” and came away with the idea that drinking more wine helps with weight loss. It seems to have worked for her and a tipsy Mrs. Joe makes me happy.

    I just hit 23 lbs lost since the middle of January. I just stopped eating most junk and started running faithfully. It is the only time in my life that it hasn’t sucked and been hard. Mainly, I don’t over do the gym and hell, if chocolate calls me I say “Cool” and eat it without stress.

    I tried that South Beach thing a few years back and I swore that if I ever EVER saw another freakin egg…it would be tooooo soon!
    That diet went against every food I grew up eating back East.
    That said…I lost 8 pounds in 2 weeks.

    Oh, CM — why, oh why, does it sound like it may be working? I have several pounds that MUST be lost before my stepdaughter’s wedding (that’s another story!), and even your suffering sounds like I may have to give in and try it!

    Maybe we could have a bi-coastal diet club? 😉

    This post has given me new resolve. I hate the first two weeks of South Beach with the passion of a million burning suns. But, what can I say? It actually works.

    Re: the egg thing.

    If it makes you feel any better, I got diagnosed with G.D. at eight weeks and stayed on Phase 1 for the remaining seven and a half months of my pregnancy. I would get up in the morning, take my blood sugar, pull the eggs out of the fridge and start to cry. This morning when I made my Eggbeaters and Canadian Bacon I had a momentary flashback and laughed. I keep telling myself, “If you could make it seven-plus months then, you can certainly survive two weeks now.”

    I just gorged myself on a bunch of nuts and a piece of string cheese. I’m going to try and make it to dinnertime on Crystal Light exclusively.

    I am so impressed that you’ve made it so far. I couldn’t do it!

    I’m gassy from one salad-no WAY I’d do days and days of it.

    I refuse to go through life hungry for anything. I don’t know how you guys do it! 🙂

    Oh I hear ya hon.

    I never knew how much I’d miss carbs (Who am I kidding? That’s all I ate before.)

    I HATE south beach. Cannot do it. I did love about 40lbs in the past year though (most of it in about 6 months, the last 10 came of veeeery slowly) by using fitday.com to help track my fat, calories and exercise. I linked it to my blog so everyone could see what I was eating and how active I was, and it really made me accountable!

    Good luck!!!
